So far, Ubuntu was pretty much a training grounds distro on using Linux and I think it did quite well on making me learn on how to use simple commands on the terminal and also familiarizing myself in the Linux ecosystem. Although, I didn't feel like using Ubuntu mostly because of how boring it is to me and I didn't really like the GNOME desktop. I mean, I could try the different Ubuntu flavours as they call it which are different desktop environments but I didn't feel like it. I didn't want to continue using Ubuntu because there's a chance Canonical might decide to change something about Ubuntu which I might dislike so I don't wanna. I remember I had this plan I talked about before about switching to Debian 12 and how I planned to use it in the future. Apparently, after two and a half weeks and being bored of Ubuntu, I just switched to Debian. Considering that the newer version of Debian seems a lot more accessible for my workflow and laptop hardware, I figured that it would be the right time to move Debian 12. During my switch... let's say the Debian website is pretty clunky and ugly, but it took me a while to figure out what ISO I needed to download, A live ISO that has the XFCE desktop environment. I needed a live ISO because I just wanted to check if my gaming laptop could actually Debian 12 and thank goodness it actually did. After the installation, everything went well so far. I finally did installations through the command line which is something I liked doing since it's fast and easier in my opinion and I just like looking at the terminal installing stuff. Also, I'm not much of a person who likes latest software updates instantly, I just don't really care much about it as long as the software works well. Anyways, I really am liking Debian 12 so far and I'm glad I've chosen the distribution... mostly I get to use and customize XFCE and my favourite retro window manager, Window Maker, which I might be downloading later on. :)
Ah, yes. Ever since I switched to Debian, I've been looking around the XFCE4 desktop environment and I had this
sense of nostalgia mostly because of it's retro look and almost felt like the Windows XP days. I actually went to Newgrounds just to try out and play Ultimate Flash Sonic which I remembered playing when I was little. Not only that, I also went to look for the classic stickman games and other stuff... Wow,Debian really unlocked an emotion that I find it hard to describe besides the nostalgia... All I can say is that it made feel cozy and at home. I guess I might've find the right distro after all. Anyways, I'm going to head off right now. See ya around!
